For the first entry into the grocery store category, I will discuss some of my favorite items from Food Lion, along with some of the best aspects of the customer experience! All items on this list were purchased without any sponsorships.

• Double Your Money Back Guarantee - If you are not satisfied with an item from any of the Food Lion brands (list of included brands and item categories on this page under "DOUBLE YOUR MONEY BACK GUARANTEE"), you can return it for a refund of double the purchase price. This even includes in-store baked items, and there is a Freshness Guarantee for fresh items.

• Shop and Earn Rewards - A comprehensive rewards program that gives you store credit when you buy the required amounts of qualifying items. For example, at the time of writing (March 2025), spending $45 on Nature's Promise items will earn you $6 of store credit (more on the Nature's Promise selection later), and spending $15 in the Salty Snacks and Cookie/Cracker departments will earn you $3. These selections change monthly, and the Food Lion app provides a well-organized catalog of current promotions. Now on to the items!

• I find that the Food Lion brands of paper/single-use/disposable/party/picnic/other terminology serveware and utensils provide excellent value. The quality is comparable to the major brands for a lower price, and these items are backed by the aforementioned guarantee. They are also often on sale. If you're looking to replenish your paper napkin stash, however, Food Lion's prices may not be competitive. (Would a paper napkin comparison be of interest to anyone?)

• Reed's and Boylan ginger ale – These are two of my favorite ginger ale brands. Both have plastic-free packaging (unless you count the can liner, but Reed's also has some products in glass bottles), contain real ginger, and Reed's has organic options.

• Pero Organic Mini Sweet Peppers – A small bag of sweet peppers! They're a good alternative or complement to bell peppers, especially if there's a large difference in capsaicin sensitivity among the people who will be eating a dish.

• While it may not be the largest quantity, I find that Food Lion's organic produce is often some of the highest quality relative to other local stores. The selection is definitely worth checking out.

• Incandescent light bulbs – Because sometimes, LED isn't the best option, but that's a topic for another day. They have nightlight bulbs and some other less common sizes. The hardware section is impressive overall.

• R.W. Knudsen Organic Juice – I've only tried the grape and orange juice, but both have been excellent! The orange juice is a bit more sour than most brands, though. All R.W. Knudsen juices are in plastic-free glass jugs as well!

• Nature's Bakery Fig Bars – Gluten free and available in blueberry and raspberry! They come in a box of 6 individually wrapped packs of 2 bars, for 12 bars total.

• My top Nature's Promise items - Here is a quick list of my favorite items from the Nature's Promise brand (I'll format it better if I can figure it out): Tomato Garlic Salsa --> 100% Grape Juice --> Almond Milk - I've only tried the Vanilla Unsweetened so far, but it's some of the best I've tasted --> Bottled water - Available in many sizes; the gallon jugs are a good value, and the 20 oz bottles may be on clearance --> All Purpose Cleaner - I prefer the lemon scent --> Liquid Dish Soap - Again, lemon is my preferred scent, but there's also an unscented option --> Boxed Spring Mix and Other Greens - Always fresh, and a generous amount for the price, especially if you get the large boxes --> Honey Nut O's cereal
